Lindsey Axel

Lindsey took her first dance class at Jan Martin Dance Studio at the age of 2 1/2.  She has taken ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop classes throughout her years.  She is a current member of the competition team, participating in large and small group numbers.  She is excited to work with her new students and is looking forward to this upcoming dance season.

Marisa Barragato

Marisa began taking dance class at the age of four and started dancing competitively at the age of six.  She now attends CW Post University and is majoring in Elementary Education where she was  a member of their presigious Dance Team.  Marisa enjoys taking class at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan.  This will be her second year teaching at Jan Martin.

Denise Blair

Denise took her first class at the Jan Martin Dance Studio at the age of three…and she never left! Denise has also studied with the Eglevsky Ballet Company. Now the mother of three girls, Denise teaches Tap and Jazz, as well as Combo classes for the younger students.

Joanne Dominelli

Joanne has been teaching tap, ballet, jazz and hip hop at Jan Martin for the past 7 years. Joanne enjoys working with children and this spring, she will graduate from St. Joseph’s College with a degree in Elementary Education. Joanne hopes that studying dance opens up a world of opportunities for her students.

Jaclyn Fulcher

Jackie has been dancing since the age of three. She has studied Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Tap, Pointe, African & Hip Hop. In addition, Jackie has performed at Walt Disney World and Atlantic City. She is currently attending CW Post University and is a member of the Dance Team. As an Arts Management major, she has the opportunity to enroll in various dance classes which perform at the Tilles Center. She loves working with children and is excited to be a part of the Jan Martin Staff.

Taryn Gray

Taryn began teaching classes at Jan Martin when she was just 15 years old. In addition to jazz, tap, lyrical and ballet, Taryn is especially proud of the class she teaches for children with special needs. When she graduates from college this May, Taryn is planning on a career teaching Mathematics at the Secondary School level. A lifelong fan of the New York Mets, Taryn is grateful for the wonderful relationships she has made both as a student and a teacher at the Jan Martin Dance Studio.

Lenore Hanes

Lenore joined the faculty at Jan Martin in 1991. She has studied at the Orlando School of Ballet and the Broadway Dance Center. Married, Lenore has two children and one grandchild. She hopes her students have fun, make new friends, and most of all, feel good about themselves and their accomplishments.

Yvette Santiago

Yvette began studying ballet at age 4. She was awarded for her hard work with a dance scholarship to Jacksonville University, where she graduated with a BFA in Dance. Her training includes Checetti and Vaganova ballet technique, Luigi jazz technique and Graham modern technique. Yvette spent seven years in Atlanta, Georgia where she was the Assistant Director for the Atlanta Dance Theatre.  Now back in New York, Yvette continues to train at the Peri Dance Center and at the New Dance Group with Peter Schabel.

Karey Savino

Karey is a former Orlando Magic Dancer and she served as captain of the Orlando Miracle Dancers of the WNBA. Karey has also danced for the Orlando Predators of the AFL and is a former member of the New York Dragons FireDancers of the AFL. Karey holds a BA in Communications from the University of Central Florida. She is very lucky that she can do what she loves on a daily basis!

Nicole Schiavo

Nicole has been a fixture at the Jan Martin Dance Studio since she began taking classes at the age of three. Since then, she has studied at the BOCES Cultural Arts Center, the USDAN Center for the Performing Arts, and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. In addition to her teaching schedule, Nicole is the Director of the JCR Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical Competition Teams. She is also a former member of the New York Dragons Arena Football FireDancers. Despite this hectic schedule, Nicole just received her JD degree form Touro Law School.

Catrin Skaperdas

Catrin has been dancing since she first knew how to walk. She took her first dance class at the age of three at Jan Martin. As her love for dance got stronger, she was asked to join the faculty. In addition to being an instructor, she is also a part of the Jan Martin Dance Studio award winning competition team. Her exuberant personality makes her a popular teacher with pre-school and elementary age children.

Deborah D. Smith

Deborah has a B.F.A. from S.U.N.Y. Purchase.  She has danced professionally with the Joan Kerr Dance Company and has toured Nartionally and Internationally with the Larry Richardson Dance Company.  She also danced with the PA. Academy of Ballet under the direction of John White and Marsarita DeSaa.  Deborah is the proud nother of three teenage girls and a rescue husky.  She is so happy and grateful to be a part of the wonderful family at Jan Martin and hopes to employ self esteem and the joy of the passion of life and dance to every individual student.

Jessica Turano

Jessica has been dancing for sixteen years, eleven at the competitive level.  This is her second season as an instructor with Jan Martin Dance, while attending CW post College.  Well loved by her students, she brings her knowledge and enthusiasm to every class.  She will also have her own competitor teams this fall.

Adrianna Vazquez

Adrianna has been on the faculty of the Jan Martin Dance Studio for 16years. She currently teaches jazz and lyrical classes where she emphasizes technique as well as the enjoyment of dance. In addition to an Associates degree in dance, Adrianna also has her Cosmetology license.
